Integrity vs. Fear: I Do Not Know the Man!
9th Sunday after Pentecost. Rev. Daniel F. Bogre will continue the sermon series, “Integrity vs. Fear,” with the sermon “I Do Not Know the Man!” based on John 19:4-16.
This time the pressure and the fear was from above.
For Pilate it was from King Ceasar, the one whom Pilate served.
The pressure was also from above in regards to his wife who told him to have nothing to do with Jesus because of what she had seen in a dream the night before.
Pilate was not afraid of the people. He was wrestling between what his heart was telling him. In his heart he knew Jesus had done nothing wrong.
If the people revolted, Ceasar would kill him for not being able to control the people. Even the people caved that day when they claimed no king but Ceasar.
How can you make the Jesus decision in times of pressure and crises, if you do not know who Jesus is?
That was Pilate’s dilemma. Is it yours?
