At RRUMC, we have an ensemble for you to glorify Jesus Christ through music.

SUNDAY SERVICES

  • 8:30 AM – Informal service in the Chapel

  • 10:00 AM – Traditional service in the Sanctuary

  • 11:30 AM – Contemporary service in Beacon Hall

The broad based support for this music ministry clearly spans the generations with participation being open to all. Starting at age four, children begin to learn the fun of singing together in the Good News and Praise Choirs that present special musicals during the year and also appear frequently as an integral part of the traditional service.

For older youth and adults there are multiple traditional and contemporary music experiences from which to choose. The Chancel Choir, supported by professional quartet section leaders, provides weekly music for the traditional Sunday morning worship service; supplies weekly soloists for the informal Chapel service; and also joins with instrumentalists and part-time singers to present two major choral works each year.

Those who choose to attend the traditional service in the sanctuary have the added privilege of singing hymns and hearing preludes, anthems and postludes played on our marvelous Casavant organ with three manuals, a 32-note pedal keyboard, 50 stops controlling 3005 pipes, and a 21-note set of Degan Chimes.

The Praise Team leads contemporary worship at the weekly Harbor Service where guitars, woodwinds, drums and keyboards join with vocalists to provide musical accompaniment.

Finally, the Gifts of Music Concert Series is a community outreach of Rocky River United Methodist Church.  As a natural complement to the church’s excellent internal music program, these concerts began in November 2008 when group founder Pamela Pitcher fulfilled the desire to bring outstanding quality artistic performances to the greater West Shore communities.

Since its inception, this concert series has sought to provide diverse programming including ~ classical, popular show tunes, mix of instrumental and vocal performances, drama, and even some occasional jazz ~   based on the premise that all “musical gifts” should offer something for everyone!

All concerts are free of charge with support provided by freewill offerings and Series Sponsors at the following levels:

  • Patron $50 - $99

  • Sponsor $100 – $199

  • Sustaining $200 and above

Sponsorship checks payable to Rocky River UMC with “Gifts of Music Sponsor” on the memo line should be mailed or brought to the Church Office or placed in the freewill offering at any concert or worship service.

If you have questions or would like more information about the concert series or sponsorship, please contact Bruce Biggin at brbiggin@netscape.net.
