Stepping Out in Unbelief: Arriving at Your Destination

6/28/2026 - Fifth Sunday after Pentecost. VBS Sunday. Pastor Paul A. Bennett will continue the sermon series, “Baggage Claim: Living Light in a Heavy World,” with the sermon, “Stepping Out in Unbelief: Arriving at Your Destination,” based on Matthew 14:22-33.

Over the past three weeks, we have unpacked the heavy burdens of sin, guilt, and fear, learning what it means to drop them at the feet of Jesus.

Today, on this final Sunday of our series, we confront the last remaining piece of baggage holding us back: the subtle, suffocating weight of unbelief.

Unbelief is a quiet captor; it anchors us to the limits of our own logic, trapping us within the narrow confines of only what we can control, predict, and understand. It was that human logic that trapped Peter in his promise to never deny Jesus in our text today.

But God is calling us into a future that far exceeds our human comprehension, and biblical faith is the "substance" of that hope.

Faith is the divine key that unlocks God’s promises, empowering us to break past our current limitations and step into the impossible.
