The Jews were so afraid that all that Jesus had predicted would actually happen that when they buried Jesus in the tomb, they rolled a huge stone in front of it, secured it with a seal on the stone, and posted armed guards there to make sure his body would never ever leave that tomb. However, sin, death, a sealed stone, and armed guards could not stop Jesus.
When the angel appears white as light the guards were caught off guard and shook and became like dead men. They were not expecting Jesus to be Jesus. They were truly caught off guard and missed a resurrected Savior right in front of them.
If Jesus came into your life today, would you be caught off guard or would you RISE in praise and thanksgiving and yell, “That’s my Savior!”
