Terry Rounds, of Greater Cleveland Food Bank and main speaker at “The World of Scarcity” April 6 seminar, will engage attenders in this role-playing event.
Patrick Kearns, immigrant advocate from Re:Source Cleveland, who also spoke on April 6, will also participate.
The Poverty Simulation program last about three hours which includes an introduction and briefing, role playing exercise and debriefing.
The role-playing exercise consisting of four 15 -minute “weeks” where participant will take on the role of a family member as they to go to work, school, or do what is needed to make ends meet during this month.
The program moves people to think about harsh realities of poverty and to talk about how communities can address the problem collectively.
The object is to sensitive participants to the realities faced by low-income people. Most importantly, it encourages people to make a difference.
