RRUMC: 250 Years of Faith & Freedom

Dear Friends and Family of RRUMC,
This July, our nation marks a monumental milestone: America’s 250th birthday. As we look back on two and a half centuries, we see a history intricately woven with the promises and truths of God’s Word. Our American story has never been a secular accident; it has always been a journey deeply rooted in Scripture.
From our founding documents to our national hymns, the framework of our society reflects a Biblical understanding of human dignity, justice, and liberty. We find our journey mirrored in the words of Leviticus 25:10, famously inscribed upon the Liberty Bell:
"Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof."
This Scripture reminds us that true freedom is a gift from the Creator, meant to be lived out in community and covenant with one another.
Yet, a look back must always be paired with a look forward. The success, peace, and righteousness of the next 250 years will not depend on our political or economic power, but on our spiritual devotion to Jesus Christ and His teachings.
If we want to see our communities flourish for generations to come, we must maintain a continued dependence on living the lives that Jesus modeled. By walking in humility, serving the marginalized, and loving our neighbors as ourselves, we ensure that the light of faith continues to guide our nation's path.
Ultimately, as a church family, we know that It's All about the Story. Our nation has a story, but our deepest calling is found in our mission: We exist to help people meet Jesus Christ in the midst of their story.
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus met two discouraged travelers on the road to Emmaus, walking alongside them and revealing Himself through the Scriptures until their hearts burned within them (Luke 24:13–32). Just as Jesus met them in the middle of their story, He meets each of us in our stories today.
As we step into America's next chapter, let us commit to walking alongside our neighbors, sharing God’s love, and helping everyone we meet find their place in His unfolding story.
See you in church…
Peace and blessings,
Rev. Dan
