For upcoming ways to serve in Missions & Outreach, scroll down!
Our God has richly blessed each one of us with a unique set of spiritual gifts and talents to be used for his glory!
By his grace, we are free to choose how we will use those gifts, and whether we will allow God to use us to impact this world for his purpose.
At RRUMC, we exist to connect people with Jesus Christ. As we reach out, welcome, and disciple through worship and service, we live out this very important mission in practical ways and align our lives to the will of our Heavenly Father.
Resolve today to find a ministry area that speaks to your heart as well as your unique gifts and talents. As you look through the ministry opportunities listed, ask God to show you where to serve as you prayerfully consider your commitment for the coming year. Contact Pastor Paul Bennett with any questions you may have about a particular ministry.
If you need help discovering your spiritual gifts, or choosing an area to serve, contact the church staff. They are happy to help you find a place where you can be passionate in your service to the Lord!
Outreach & Service
Seed for Haiti Collection – July 1 & 8
The children in Vacation Bible School this year are donating their money to buy seeds and agricultural support for the people of Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere.
Decades of deforestation have resulted in prolonged drought and poor soil conditions. Harvests have dropped to one-third of their normal production. The end result is over 26% of Haitian children under the age of 5 suffer from chronic malnutrition. As a congregation, let’s support our VBS children in this worthwhile effort by at least doubling the funds they raise. Every $10 donation will help purchase seeds for a Haitian family giving them food, income and hope. Donations will be collected after each service for the first two Sundays in July or submitted to the Church Office. Write checks to RRUMC with “Seeds for Haiti” in the memo line.
Supply a Good Start for School
The Mission/Outreach Committee will be collecting school supplies from July 15 through August 5th.
(Suggested items: glue sticks, 5” blunt scissors, 12 inch plastic ruler, wide rule filled paper, 16 count Crayola crayons, number 2 pencils, pencil sharpener, colored pencils, spiral notebooks, and washable Crayola thick classic markers. School supplies will be distributed Tuesday, August 7, at the Nehemiah Mission “Bread on Bridge Tuesdays.” Note that receivers of the school supplies will include families that are patrons of Twice Blessed Free Store. “Bread on Bridge Tuesdays” is a regular Tuesday evening gathering, from 5:00pm–7:00pm, during which all are invited to drop in to share in conversation, Scripture, prayer, and song in a café setting featuring fresh baked bread, soup, coffee and desserts.
