What can I expect from your church service?

We have three different styles of worship services.

  • The 8:30 Chapel Service:  This casual service captures the essentials of Christian worship. Come as you are and experience God’s love and compassion. Child care is provided for children 3 and under.
  • The 10:00 Sanctuary Service:  A time-honored United Methodist service that includes traditional music with various special instrumental and vocal selections. A heart warming Children’s Time is part of the service. Immediately following, Coffee Hour, provides an opportunity to renew acquaintances, meet new people, and experience the warmth of RRUMC first-hand. Child care is provided for children 3 and under. A Sunday School program is available for ages three through grade 12. For information aboutour Sunday School programs, please visit our Children’s Ministry page on our website or select a Children’s or Youth Ministry brochure from our information center.
  • The 11:15 Harbor Service:  An upbeat, one hour, contemporary service in a casual setting. The experience includes powerful praise and worship music led by our Praise Team as well as a relevant message from God’s word. Child care is provided for children 4 and under. “The Lighthouse Gang” Sunday school program is available for children ages 5 - 8. Ages 9 and older are invited to join in the contemporary service. Come as you are– everyone is welcome!

Is there a dress code?

We’re more concerned about meeting your needs than what you wear, so dress comfortably. Most of those who attend our services dress casually (khaki pants and golf shirts). The important thing is that you come.

Do I have to join?
No, you do not have to join our church to attend services. In fact, many in our congregation attend for a year before making the decision to join.

That being said, we do want you to be a part of our congregation. New members are matched with a "faith friend" in the congregation to help them learn more about the programs the church offers. We have found that this helps people "find their place" and do what interests them most.

How do I join?

Rocky River United Methodist Church offers membership inquiry sessions for persons wanting to join our congregation.

These New Member Classes meet for three Sunday evenings (every other week) for two hour sessions.

During these classes, you will have the opportunity to get to know others who are considering joining our church. You will learn an overview of United Methodist history and theology. You will be introduced to our Program Staff, as well as many of the programs offered at our church. You will learn of the many opportunities members of our church have to be in mission and ministry with and to those around us. You will be connected with a member of our congregation (a Faith Friend) to help you with your transition into membership.

Child Care provided.

If you are considering joining the church, please contact Rev. Christopher Statz at 440-331-7676.

What about child care?

In an atmosphere of love, understanding and care, we provide a safe, clean environment for infants and toddlers. Child care is provided during all three of our services for children age 3 and under. Many of our adult programs also offer child care. Please contact the church office with questions about a specific program.

Children are registered upon arrival. Parents are issued a vibrating pager used to contact you in the event that your child becomes overly distressed.  Parents are also given a name tag to complete for their child(ren). Basic information such as allergies, pacifier use and toilet training can be noted on the sticker.

We advise you to bring disposable diapers and a change of clothes in case of an accident. Please be sure to label your child's diaper bag, bottle, pacifier, cup, or comfort item. This helps us to quickly comfort your child - and reduces germs in the care are.

We provide a small snack of crackers or cookies and water for toddlers. If your child has allergies please share the details with our caregivers (you should also note the information on your nametag). If you prefer to provide your own snack, please inform the caregivers.
